STONEAGE GRAFFITI (23/04/11)

I’m back at the Tan Hill Inn for Easter. I have a load of video to edit and I also have a headache. I knew one of the crisps I ate whilst socialising last night didn’t taste quite right. So in case I get fed up I’ll post a normal post or as normal as I’m capable of in my delicate state.

Play time then off to explore………………..I’m getting a lamb fixation………….don’t worry it’s treatable.

These inscriptions are chiselled into almost every exposed rock. 1676 is the oldest I've found so far.

Right; back to video and coffee, I’m sure I’ll be fine by lunch time.

Happy Easter to one and all.

  1. Hope you have recovered from that dodgy crisp that you ate. I stick to peanuts myself. Safer. They don't clash with the beer/wine/? quite so much. The Lapwing photos are splendid. I've never managed to capture that sheen on the wings as well.

  2. Have a great Easter Adrian.
Molly seems to be having a great time.

I'm thinking maybe I should have stayed a bit longer

  3. Dalliana, you have a satisfying weekend. I appreciate religion< I love religious architecture. I struggle with the faith bit.

Graham, I have complained to the landlady, beer was off!
Her reply."It could well have been the amount you put away.Old drunk you had six for the road."
That explains the horrible way I felt this morning.

Keith, you too and you should have stayed. Thanks for walking with me. I now know how to get bird shots. Burst shoot wide open and ditch the bad ones. I was in landscape mode.....tripod wait for light and miss it.

  4. Great photos of the Lapwing. I looked him up http://www.rspb.org.uk/wildlife/birdguide/name/l/lapwing/index.aspx
and heard his unusual call as well. I see the other name for it is Peewit, which, I think, can also refer to people who over indulge and then blame crisps ;) Hope you recuperate quickly!

  7. Glo, no worries, the dogs and sheep get on fine. beggars belief but I train my dogs. So they are no threat to anyone.
I still feel poorly but it will get worse before it gets better.
I've just posted again so I can't have been too bad.

  8. I can't believe that the dogs got so close to the sheep... worth a photo in itself. Maybe it's because your dog is not black and white and a curiosity to the sheep ! The vandals were more cultured in earlier ages ! Happy Easter

  9. Jay, these lambs are tame they live in the pub so are happy to chat with anything. Molly only bothers Pheasant and Deer.
    Happy Easter to you too.

  10. A great post Adrian..and fantastic improvement with the bird photography. Whatever Keith has told you it most certainly has worked. I just cannot find a Treecreeper to photograph as they are fast little devils so well done with that one. Lapwings (Peewits) are another bird I would dearly love to photograph well....I just cannot get close enough with or without the poncho.
The bikers and the dogs with goggles are another
great capture...you must be a right charmer to get them to pose.

  11. Trevor, it was more a case of watching him and taking note. He did point out that shouting come here you wee brown devil is not conducive to good avian images. Also if you settle where you've seen them before they tend to come back.
Bikers are easy and good subjects. No one but an extrovert would dress that way if they didn't fancy appreciative attention.
